August Newsletter

Not such a quiet summer...

Our supposedly quiet summer has been anything but – consistent, busy and fruitful, and we couldn’t be more grateful. August has been another really positive month on the track, including a particularly exciting milestone as we saddled our first runner at York’s Ebor Festival. Two-year-old TheHeatison, by Too Darn Hot, has been an absolute legend for the yard this summer, improving with every run, and he did us proud when finishing second in the £100,000 Mews Hotel Ossett EBF Stallions Nursery Handicap. It was a huge thrill for the whole team, and we’re looking forward to hopefully another run or two with him before the season draws to a close.

The return of the jumping season brought another memorable day. We sent our first runner all the way north to Perth, Glen To Glen, a new addition to the yard for new owners, couldn’t have made a better start, winning impressively on his stable debut. He’s come out of the race well and we’re looking forward to seeing him back on the track in September.

Meanwhile, our Racing Club horse Mi Sueño continues to be a star. He remarkably recorded form figures of 1-2-1 from his first three starts for us, all within the space of a week, providing Club members with some fantastic days out and plenty to celebrate.

Elsewhere, the horses continue to run consistently, with plenty knocking on the door. Back at Felstead, we’ve been equally busy, opening our doors for National Racehorse Week and welcoming visitors to meet the team and get to know some of the horses in training.

Our winter string is ticking along nicely, with everyone cantering away and progressing well. The recent rain has certainly been welcomed, although we’ll need plenty more before the winter horses begin racing in earnest. For now, we’re really pleased with how both the exciting new additions and our familiar older campaigners are shaping up.

Of course, none of this happens without the people behind the horses. We’re incredibly fortunate to head into the season with a brilliant team at Felstead Stables. Their hard work, patience and dedication underpin every winner, every promising run and every step forward at home. With the summer horses still firing and the winter team beginning to build towards their campaigns, there is plenty to be excited about as we head into autumn.

It’s been lovely to welcome so many of our owners back to Felstead Stables over the summer to visit their horses and see how they’re progressing. With the winter string coming along nicely, we’re now looking ahead to October and November, when we hope to see many of these familiar faces making their seasonal returns to the racecourse.

We currently stand at 10 winners for the season and a little over £100,000 in prize money, which is a fantastic position to be in as August draws to a close. It’s testament to the consistency of the horses and the hard work of everyone at home, and we’re hoping to carry that same momentum with us into September and beyond.

Love the NS team X
