Ramping Up!

nother busy month at Felstead Stables, rounding off October with a record number of runners in a single day! Winter is officially upon us, although you wouldn't necessarily know it from the weather, and we've been doing our best to get the winter horses out and their seasons underway.

While we haven't managed to run quite as many as Nick would have liked, the unusually dry conditions have dictated a later start for many trainers this year. That said, we're really pleased with how the horses are performing, with plenty running well and finishing in the places, even if the winners haven't been quite as forthcoming as we'd hoped.

There have been some particularly encouraging performances worth mentioning. Otie's Friend ran a lovely race to finish third at Cheltenham, while The Doyen Chief put in a very good effort to finish second at Market Rasen in the Desert Orchid. Lord Churchill also impressed when finishing runner-up in a valuable bumper at Ascot, and Race To Base was particularly unlucky at Wetherby. All four have given us plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the months ahead.

Two Horses Flying the Flag

A special mention must go to two horses who have really helped put Nick Scholfield Racing on the map this year.

Morning Mayhem has been an absolute legend for the yard, running a tremendous race to finish second in the Welsh Champion Hurdle before being unfortunate at Ascot. He's been a wonderfully consistent performer and continues to give us plenty to be proud of.

Meanwhile, our talented two-year-old TheHeatison produced another fantastic performance on Champions Day at Ascot, finishing fifth against some of the best two-year-olds around. He's been a real star throughout the summer, and between him and Morning Mayhem, they've contributed a very healthy amount to the yard's prize money tally.

Our summer horses, including the brilliant Limerick Leader, have now headed off for their well-earned holidays. They've done us proud, and we look forward to welcoming them back for another campaign next summer.

All Systems Go for November

Looking ahead, November promises to be an exceptionally busy month. We have some really lovely horses waiting in the wings, both familiar faces and exciting new additions, and we're looking forward to getting them out on the racecourse as conditions allow.

The team at Felstead have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes, and Nick couldn't be more grateful. Preparing horses for the racecourse takes an enormous amount of time, patience and dedication, and it's hugely rewarding to see that hard work reflected in their performances. Even when they aren't winning, the horses are turning up and running with credit, which gives us plenty of confidence for the season ahead.

One Year, 38 Winners and Nearly £500,000 in Prize Money!

As we head into November, we also celebrate a rather special milestone — Nick's first anniversary as a licensed racehorse trainer. And what a fabulous first year it has been!

When Nick first took out his training licence, he could never have imagined quite how successful the first twelve months would be. From our very first runners to Listed success, big-race performances and winners across the country, it's been an incredible journey.

Of course, none of it would have been possible without the unwavering support of our owners, the dedication of our brilliant team and everyone who has played a part in getting Nick Scholfield Racing off the ground. Nick is enormously grateful to each and every one of you.

We've set the bar rather high for ourselves, but we're certainly not planning on standing still.

The target for year two? Beat year one…

Here's to another exciting twelve months at Felstead Stables. Thank you for being part of the journey.

Love the NS team X
