We enjoyed a couple of good runners over the weekend just gone, with Bollin’ Thou continuing his remarkable campaign to notch up a fourth win. He was expertly piloted by a hastily drafted Sean Bowen — proving that Nick provides taxi services for jockeys as well as turning out winning horses! Bollin’ Thou has really come into himself this season, and Sean now knows him exceptionally well, delivering another brilliant ride.
Overall, it’s been a very positive month for the yard. We’ve had plenty of runners hitting the frame, and we’re pleased with the progress the horses are making and the way they’re performing on the track. It’s great for owners to see that consistency paying off. From an admin point of view, many of the horses have now had their flu vaccinations, allowing us to kick on confidently into February.
At home, we have some lovely youngsters who are working well, and we’re very much looking forward to getting them out racing in the spring. On a more bittersweet note, we say goodbye to Josh Bryan, who is heading off to ride in France. Josh has been a big part of the team and has ridden our Racing Club horses with great success. We wish him the very best and look forward to welcoming him back in the future. We’ve also been pleased to welcome a couple of new faces to the yard — both equine and human.
Finally, our other stable star St Irene continues to go very well at home. Her next target is Cheltenham, likely the Thursday in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle, and she won’t run again beforehand as we focus on getting her super fit for the day. It’s unbelievably exciting to be heading towards what would be our first runner at the Cheltenham Festival, all being well.
Plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
Love the NS Team X
