June Newsletter
Our first winner on the flat...

June has been another encouraging month for the yard. We were delighted to bookend the month with two winners, as Morning Mayhem got the ball rolling early in June before Edgewell rounded things off in style with victory at Newton Abbot. Morning Mayhem notched up his fourth win for the yard, while Edgewell recorded his third, and both have been outstanding servants throughout the season. Huge credit must go to the team at home, whose hard work has kept these horses happy, healthy and producing winning performances right through a long winter campaign and into the summer.
Our small team of summer runners continues to punch above its weight. With 10 horses finishing in the first four during the month, the prize money has continued to tick over nicely and the horses have remained consistently competitive. A particular highlight was saddling our first-ever Royal Ascot runner, Hipphop. While he didn't trouble the judge, he certainly didn't disgrace himself and will continue his Flat campaign over the coming months.
Away from the racecourse, the yard has undergone its annual summer refresh. Following plenty of power washing, painting, disinfecting and general maintenance, Felstead Stables is looking fantastic and ready to welcome the winter horses back in July. Those horses currently out at grass are looking magnificent, enjoying the sunshine and making the most of their summer holiday. Nick has been delighted with how they are looking and is excited to have them back in work as preparations begin for another National Hunt season.
It hardly seems possible that we are approaching our first anniversary at Felstead Stables. The last year has flown by, and while things have been a little quieter on the racecourse during the early summer, there has been no let-up at home. We've invested a huge amount of time into improving the yard and its facilities, and we look forward to seeing those improvements reflected when the winter horses return. Here's to another exciting season ahead.
As always, thank you to our owners, staff and supporters. We are excited to get started again with our jumps horses!
Love the NS team X
